 Opportunities

Postdoctoral

Our research themes are broad spanning ecological and evolutionary research in aquatic and terrestrial systems meaning that there is potential for a range of post-doc projects depending on expertise of the candidate. Pending funding we hire post-doctoral research fellows (monitor this site for opportunities as they arise), and there are several schemes available to facilitate both short-term and long-term post-docs in our group. These include:

Alfred Deakin Fellowships (2 years)

Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award (3 year fellowship)

Fulbright Fellowships (3 to 10 month fellowships)

Interested young researchers are encouraged to contact Adam and Craig to discuss opportunities for working in our group. We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic researchers of all ages and genders.

PhD

We have a productive team of PhD students working on a broad range of research topics. Refer to our current PhD programs to get a feel for the types of projects our students focus on. We are always keen to hear from interested potential domestic and international PhD students, and encourage interested students to approach us with their own research ideas.

Please contact Adam or Craig to discuss project ideas and the application process.

Deakin University offers stipends of $28,092 (2020 rate) per annum tax exempt. Relocation allowance from $500 to $1,500 (for single to family) are also awarded to students who are moving from interstate or overseas in order to study at Deakin. The doctoral degree duration includes 3 years for stipend and 4 years for the tuition fees offset. Further details can be found on the Deakin University website.

Honours and Masters

Each year we support Honours student projects, with two student intakes per year (February and July).  We also support Masters students with February intakes each year. Please refer to our current and past student projects to get an idea of the range of projects you could work on, and we encourage all potential students to approach us with their own ideas to help us tailor research programs around your areas of interest

We encourage all potential domestic and international students to contact Adam or Craig to discuss project ideas and the application process.

Further details on applying for Honours or Masters at Deakin University can be found on the University website.
